Institute of Health Sciences Education
Community Based Medical Education
The academic unit for Community-Based Medical Education liaises with and supports approximately 160 GP practices across London and beyond; these are the Barts and The London GP teaching practices. Medical students across all five years have the opportunity to learn from placements in general practice.
Feedback from students suggests that they value the hands on clinical experience in general practice, interactive learning sessions and specific feedback as well as learning from GPs as role-models.
GPs who are involved in the GP tutor programme not only get the enjoyment of engaging with and developing our future doctors but also become part of a wider teaching and learning community.
